Fall Developmental Program-Prep House League

Fall Developmental Program or also known as “Prep for House League”:

  • START DATE: September, 22, 2024.
  • No Session on Oct. 13, 2024 (Thanks Giving)
  • END DATE: December 1, 2024.
  • DAYS: Every Sundays, except for holidays and Cycling Canada Events.
  • TIME: Between 11:30am and 7pm. Refer to registration below for exact time.
  • LENGTH: 75 minutes per session
  • VENUE: Velodrome – 2015 PanAm Boulevard, Milton, Ont
  • BASKETBALL:
    • Players must bring their own basketball to the sessions. No sharing.
      • Size #5 for U-Sports Division and Jr.WNBA
      • Size #6 for NCAA, NBA and WNBA Divisions
      • Size #7 for PRO Division
    • Basketball can also be purchased online during registration and will be delivered to your child on the 1st day of the program.

The focus of this program is to prepare the athletes for the Winter House League. This is a complete player’s developmental program for beginners and skilled players who are interested in learning and advancing their skills, enhance knowledge in the game and enjoy the competition that the Winter House League offers.

  • TRAINING PROGRAM OUTLINE
    • Instructed by professional elite coaches
    • Building Fundamentals – Triple threat position, proper shooting form, passing, ball handling, defending, foot work, etc.
    • Plyometrics, cardio and strength training
    • Introduction to basic rules and regulations of the game
    • How to execute simple plays like 5-out, pick and roll, setting screens and how to get open
    • Learn basic lays ups, foot work, post play, jab steps, jump stops, pivoting, blocking out (rebounding) and so on
    • Learn basketball terminologies
    • Foul shooting positioning
    • 3 on 3 drills – Learn how to create space and positioning
    • 5 on 5 scrimmages – learn and experience how to play every position
    • Develop teamwork and leadership skills
    • Emphasis on respecting coaches, team members and opponents
    • Help set personal goals

VOLUNTEER COACHES:

We are seeking volunteer coaches preferably parents or matured siblings. We offer coaching clinics, tools and mentoring program. Coaches will participate in the on-court Fall Developmental training with the guidance of the head coaches/instructors. To apply for VOLUNTEER COACH please click here.

Note: If your child was born in 2015 and has no basketball experience we recommend that child first consider the Staglets program.

Cancellation and Transfer Policy:

Parents may opt to withdraw their child 14 days prior to the start date of the program and receive the amount paid less $50 (non-refundable administrative operation fee). No credit will be issued if withdrawal request was made less than 14 days prior to first scheduled assessment date or if the program has already started. Notification of withdrawal from the program is to be sent to inquiry@stagsbasketball.com.
Our club policy requires a $25 program transfer fee for any player who chooses to switch to a different program within the club.
These fees are intended to cover the administrative and all related costs associated with transferring or cancelling the player’s registration. We believe that this policy ensures fairness and consistency for all players while also providing flexibility for those who wish to make changes to their program.
No refund or credit is issued for missed practices, cancellations due to inclement weather or school board cancellations.

In case of province-wide pandemic closure we will try our very best to make up dates that were missed, in the event that program can no longer resume due to lack of time and/or gym space the club will only offer program credit based on what is left in the program – credit can be used towards any future programs. No partial refund will be issued.
